Trelstad Avenue SE to Turner Road SE Waterline
Project Name: Trelstad Avenue SE to Turner Road SE Waterline
Owner: City of Salem
Location: Salem, Oregon
Project Description: Westech assisted the City with the design of a new 18-inch diameter water distribution pipeline in South Salem. The total length of the pipeline was more than 7,000 feet. Early work in the project included evaluating multiple alignment options with regard to cost, schedule, permitting, and environmental impacts. Key project elements include an open cut crossing of Kuebler Boulevard which is a major arterial through the City, an auger bore of the Union Pacific Railroad, and an above grade bridge crossing. As part of the design, Westech performed a structural evaluation of the bridge to verify it could support the weight of the waterline. Due to the high traffic volumes in the work area, Westech worked with the City to identify appropriate work hours and traffic control requirements. Based on this information detailed traffic control plans were prepared.
