City Engineering
Westech specializes in the discipline of serving as the “City Engineer” for small communities. We offer the services of a full service engineering firm on an on-call basis. Serving as City Engineer is not easy. Besides technical knowledge of streets, utilities, drainage, water, and wastewater, it requires knowledge of municipal finance, the ability to assist with long range capital improvement planning, land use expertise, and expertise in the review and regulations for private development projects. City Engineering requires leadership abilities including the ability to discuss technical matters with City Councils and the public. Since every community is different the key to successfully service as the City Engineer it the ability to listen to staff, elected officials, and concerned citizens.
Specific services we provide include:
- Assist with budgeting, planning, and rate studies.
- Development of public works design standards and construction specification.
- Utility mapping and drawing archiving.
- General assistance related to federal, state or county permits, applications, or agency coordination.
- IGA negotiations.
- Preparation of funding applications or funding proposals.
- Serve as City’s representative with other state, federal or local governmental agencies.
- Provide engineering review and oversight of private development projects.
- Attend pre-application, construction, Planning Commission, and City Council Meetings.
- Provide detailed design and construction specifications for successful bidding and construction coordination of infrastructure improvement and maintenance projects.
- Perform engineering work pertaining to public records, property acquisitions, condemnations, forfeiture activities, public improvements and improvement districts, public rights of ways, easements, code enforcement, and matters relating to special assessments and public utilities.
- Prepare utility master plans feasibility studies.
